ALLURE ROMANTIQUE
Echoes of the Past
Inspirations A mood to go back to bygone times and cherish historical costume couture art and translate it into contemporary fashion. Romantic echoes of the past, of times with Napoleon and his Josephine; Versailles, the French Revolution and the Directoire period; Marie Antoinette, the Belle Époque. Couturiers like Viktor and Rolf, Alexander McQueen, John Galliano connect history to the future. The girly princess turns into a queen, an empress, with majestic style and allure.
Colors and Fabrics Winters Frosty and Humid colors, as well as the very soft white and milky pastels of summer’s Enlightenment, and above all the ancient colors of the seductive Enticement group.
Fabrics have a ‘compact’ heavy look and feel; they are manipulated and sculptured to form voluminous shapes. They look ancient, sometimes a bit grayish and dusty as if effected by time, in creamy velvets, damasks, furnishing and tapestry jacquards, and are frequently livened up with shine and sparkles here and there. Surfaces often have voluminous effects created by wrinkles, plisse’s; laces are given grandeur with large motives, and so are prints.
Silhouettes Couture Allure! Empress-like and majestic! Round balloon, bulb and tulip shapes in skirts, dresses, panties and sleeves; small bodies, wasp waists; petticoats and crinolines; empire lines; corsetry styles. Ruches, frills, bows; circle-shaped lingerie; manipulated, twisted, picked-up and draped fabrics to give volume or an eye-catching 3D accent.
Legwear History inspired, with corsetry details; white and creamy laces, also for shoes and boots; ruches, collars and flounces; pantyhoses playing around kneelength with bows and ribbons. |
